MICHAEL J. MOORE serves as Chairman and CEO of Nova Fuels and is responsible for the successful design and construction of their renewable energy sites. In addition he serves on the United States Naval Academy Foundation Board as well as the boards of several private California corporations. He is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Southland Industries, a national mechanical engineering and construction company.

Mr. Moore received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1961 from the United States Naval Academy. After completing his six-year tour of duty in the United States Navy, Mr. Moore joined the Trane Company for three years in their Los Angeles sales office. He later attended Harvard Business School as a member of OPM 20.

Mr. Moore joined Southland Industries in 1970, was made sales manager in 1975, a partner in 1978 and became president in 1980. Under his leadership, Southland grew from a provincial Long Beach heating and air conditioning contractor to a national full-service mechanical engineering and construction company that in the October 2001 issue of Engineering News Record was ranked as the 6th largest mechanical contractor in the country with revenues in excess of $350 million. His development of a world-class in-house mechanical design engineering capability has differentiated Southland from its competition and positioned Southland for complex, large facility projects throughout the country. As a result, today, Southland's clientele include some of the largest general contractors in the country, as well as Fortune 500 companies like Motorola, Applied Materials, Marriott, Hyatt Hotels, MGM Grand, Harrah's, Amgen, IDEC Pharmaceutical, many major colleges and universities, as well as the GSA. Southland is the mechanical contractor on the team that is currently renovating wedges 2 through 5 at the Pentagon.

In 1996, Mr. Moore received recognition as Entrepreneur of the Year for the greater Los Angeles area and as the Executive of the Year by the Construction Financial Managers Association. He is a past board member and president of the Southern California Diabetes Association, served five years on the board of Leadership Long Beach and is a past board member of the Los Angeles Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Mr. Moore currently serves on the board of the California-Arizona-Nevada Chapter of Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation.

Mr. Moore and his wife, Pam, reside in Rolling Hills Estates, California and have been married 43 years. They have three grown daughters and five grandchildren.


JACK O. PAYNE

President & COO

Jack O. Payne is responsible for all day-to-day operations of Nova Fuels, location and negotiations for subsidiary sites, proprietary engineering oversight, research, and development.

Mr. Payne received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from the California Maritime Academy in 1960 along with United States Coast Guard issued Marine Engineer's License, Steam & Motor any Hp. He has additional professional training in pneumatic/electronic controls, computerized control systems, and in interpersonal communication skills.

Mr. Payne served in the United States Merchant Marine until 1968. He has over thirty-five years experience in the installation, operation and maintenance of a broad range of systems, including high pressure steam, pump, turbine, electrical, diesel, hydraulic, boiler, piping, control and instrumentation, refrigeration, cogeneration, HVAC and computers.

For three years he managed the Governor's Office of Planning and Research, Business Energy Advocates (BEA) office in Fresno, California, working with the small business community throughout nine counties on enhanced energy efficiency. He also created and managed a unique statewide BEA project demonstrating that by bundling energy efficiency improvements with emission controls, the energy savings paid for both.

Mr. Payne has designed and patented mechanical equipment and designed and implemented major process equipment in energy efficiency improvements.οΎ  He has designed the proprietary components of the Nova Fuels biomass to fuel alcohols system.


MIKE KAUFHER

Vice President of Marketing

Mike Kaufher is responsible for the successful marketing of renewable energy products and byproducts for the company and its subsidiaries.

Mr. Kaufher received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio State University in 1972. After graduation he began a twenty-five year career in health care communications and marketing. Mr. Kaufher was Vice President of Public Relations of the Maryland Hospital Association; Senior Vice President, Corporate Communication for the Geisinger Health System (PA); Vice President of the Lehigh Valley Health Network (PA); and Chief Marketing Officer of the Kings View Health Systems (CA). While with Geisinger, he was part of a major expansion of the regional system that grew from a single site to seven separate corporate units responsible for more than thirty-five locations, including hospitals, clinics, treatment centers and an HMO.

In 1995 Mr. Kaufher started a marketing and business development consulting practice that has included clients in businesses involved in alternative energy and renewable fuels, healthcare, and agriculture.


DAVID J. TEPPERMAN

Vice President of Human Resources

David Tepperman is responsible for Nova Fuels human resources and sustainable company culture. This culture prioritizes the need for employee pride at every level and a systemic conflict resolution process for win-win outcomes.

Mr. Tepperman received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1960 from the State University of Iowa and a Master of Social Work degree in 1970 from Smith College. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and holds the title of Diplomate of Social Work.

Mr. Tepperman has worked for twenty-five years in mental health private practice. He has successfully worked for conflict resolution with couples and families. Mr. Tepperman has consulted with major corporations and many levels of government in addressing conflict resolution, stress management and critical incident debriefing. Mr. Tepperman has also worked as a mental health professional for the Central Valley Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled and for the California State Department of Corrections. While employed at Corcoran State Prison, he provided conflict resolution and case management services for the Secure Housing Unit. He was also the union steward for the AFSCME Local 2620.

Mr. Tepperman served in the United Sates Coast Guard and was a Peace Corps volunteer in Chile.


DAVID M. HOGUE

Chief Legal Counsel

David M. Hogue received a Degree in Agricultural Business Management from California Polytechnic Sate University in 1986. He graduated with distinction from the San Joaquin College of Law in 1993.

Mr. Hogue was student body president for his law school, as well as a member of the Agricultural Law Review and Law Review Editorial Board. In 1993, Mr. Hogue received the Leon S. Peters Leadership Award from San Joaquin College of Law. Following two years in civil litigation defense, Mr. Hogue went into private practice.
