Nova Fuels is a technology innovation company dedicated to developing domestic fuel sources from biomass and other appropriate feedstocks in a way that is economically profitable, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.
Appropriate feedstocks can include wood waste, agricultural waste, sorted municipal solid waste, and other clean carbon sources. These materials are converted to fuel alcohols in a highly efficient, near carbon-neutral process that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, reduces dependence upon petroleum, and creates a new, integrated, fully accountable model for managing waste resources, converting them into socially beneficial products.
Economically profitable means that Nova Fuels is operated in such a way as to responsibly manage all of it's financial obligations, pay all employees a living wage or more, provide excellent benefits, further education and training opportunities, and devote a portion of earnings to sustainable technology research and development and other environmentally responsible causes.
Environmental sustainability represents an approach where there is balance between the demands placed upon the ecosystem and the benefits returned. Depending upon locale, this may take the form of contractual binders with suppliers dictating where feedstocks may originate, reforestation programs, and other approaches and controls. We recognize that sustainability is dynamic, and with the historical precedent established by unsustainable practices our policies may need to focus on returning far more than we utilize to assist ecosystem restoration.
Nova Fuels demonstrates social responsibility by remaining engaged with and accountable to its employees and the communities with which we interact. We view our operations as assisting communities in their quest for greater self-sufficiency and self-reliance, in building capacity for job growth, in mutually beneficial partner technologies, such as generating refrigeration with waste heat, or making concrete block with process ash. We strive to balance the needs of immediate community with those of the larger community of life and to remain open to dialogue towards achieving this balance.
